Construction Activities

Construction Activities Feb. 4 - Feb. 12

Curb, Gutter, and Sidewalk work begins at Harbor Access Road

We've been receiving a lot of great feedback about the work alongside the harbor access road. I know many of you are excited about the sidewalk being installed from 7th Avenue down the hill to the big harbor sign. Work continues with the excavation, compaction and baserock to prepare for the forms to place concrete curb, gutter and sidewalk.

Backfilling of the wall is complete and the valley gutter behind the wall is also finished. The valley gutter extends behind the wall for the full length of the wall and will assist in draining the surface flow from the hillside above.

 Multi-Use Trail Construction

The intersection down by the harbor dry storage yard is open again! The multi-use trail intersection is mostly complete and placement of bike racks, additional signage and trash receptacles is scheduled in the coming weeks.

Over 90% of the pervious concrete multi-use trail inside of the Arana Gulch open space has been placed. There is a 110 foot section that remains to be placed near the east side of the Hagemann Gulch Bridge.

Hagemann Gulch Bridge Abutments

The four CIDH piles that were installed this week in the eastern abutment extend down approximately 50 feet below grade. Footings and a slab will be poured and will be anchored in place by 50 ground anchors.
